Molecules Of Elements

In this type of elements atoms combined with same type of atoms.

For example :- Two atoms of oxygen is combined and form Oxygen gas ( O2). These molecules are known as diatomic molecules. If three molecules are combined together is forms Ozone.

The number of atoms consist a molecule is known as atomicity.

But some types of non metals does not follow this theory.

For example :- Like as carbon

Carbon has complicated structure. The structure of carbon have indefinite number atoms and consist of very large structure.

Molecules of Compounds

Atoms of different elements combined together and form molecules.

For example Water, Ammonia, Carbon Dioxide

Ion

When metals and non metals combined together. It have positive or negative species is known as ‘Ion’. It may be positive or negative charged. When two or more than two positive or negative charged particles combined together then it found a stable compound.

For example :- NaCl or sodium chloride. In this sodium with positive ion and chloride with negative ion combined together and forms a stable compound sodium chloride.

Other examples are Calcium oxide. In this compound calcium with positive ion and oxide with negative ion combined together and form calcium oxide.
